Cu, Cd, As and Hg resistance levels in Escherichia coli isolated from Mediterranean mussel and sea snail in the Southeastern Black Sea

چکیده
Marine environment is exposed to various pollutants such as heavy metals, pesticides, and antibiotics. Bacterial resistance these a global problem all over the world. In this study, Mediterranean mussel (Mytilus galloprovincialis) sea snail (Rapana venosa) were collected from 12 sampling points Artvin, Rize, Trabzon, Giresun Coasts of Black Sea, Turkey. A total 54 Escherichia coli isolated tested for their ability tolerate Cu, Cd, As, Hg. For purpose, minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) tests isolates Hg done determine tolerance or using broth dilution technique. MIC ranged between 100-400 ?g/ml, 100-200 25-400 3.125-25 respectively. All strains determined resistant but sensitive As. Resistance was 7.4 %. The most common gene in bacteria nccA followed by chrB merA. Tolerance toxic including metal(oid)s significant ecological importance. These could be used monitoring environmental metal(oid) pollution.

The Mediterranean mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis (L.) was collected from the fall 2005 to the winter 2009 from the six sites on the Montenegrin coastline. Two wild samples were collected from the open sea coastline, and two cultivated and two wild were from the Boka Kotorska Bay. The mussels soft tissue was analyzed for zinc, copper, lead, cadmium, arsenic and total mercury. Concentrations of...

In this study, heavy metals (Hg,Cd,Pb,Cu,Zn) and metallothionein (MT) biosynthesis were measured in blood of green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas) nesting on the northern coast of the Sea of Oman. Heavy metals concentrations in the sea water, the sediments, the blood samples ranged between 0.02-8.43 μg/l, 0.06-10.32 μg/l, and 0.16-36.78μg/g (ww), respectively. The highest concentration...
متن کاملThe Mediterranean and Black Sea Fisheries at Risk from Overexploitation
The status of the Mediterranean and Black Sea fisheries was evaluated for the period 1970-2010 on a subarea basis, using various indicators including the temporal variability of total landings, the number of recorded stocks, the mean trophic level of the catch, the fishing-in-balance index and the catch-based method of stock classification. All indicators confirmed that the fisheries resources ...
